Activity 10: Analyze Different Religious Sites CollageWhat are the most important religious sites in the world?
Nearly every culture in human history has sought to honor the divine, the mysterious, the supernatural, or the extraordinary in some way. Most often this happens at sacred sites - special places where the physical world seems to meet the spiritual world. These might be awe-inspiring natural places, sites connected to a god, a saint, or a hero, places where miracles or visions were reported, or buildings consecrated for worship or ritual. Find 10 different religious sites in the world, and describe at least 3 of them in 3 paragraphs. Design a collage. https://www.befunky.com/features/collage-maker/ |
Activity 11: Analyze Daily LifeHow often have you heard someone remark that another individual is “a very religious person?”
What does that really mean? We often refer to people as “religious” simply because they fulfill the outward, material requirements of their faith. They follow the traditions and participate, perhaps scrupulously, in the rituals prescribed by their respective creeds. These actions, however, can occur without deep inner devotion or belief–but does following rituals and traditions speak of their true spirituality? Choose one of the 5 world religions: - Christianity - Islam - Hinduism - Judaism - Buddhism Describe in a 1 page (a4) paper how religion affects every day life? (Include pictures and explanations) |
Activity 12: Analyze Islamic Rituals (5 pillars)Some rituals are practiced daily, like prayer; others are practiced annually, like those aligned with specific Islamic holidays. The religious practices and rituals of Islam are relatively few in number, but great in importance. The Five Pillars of Islam are five practices regarded by all sects of the Islamic religion as essential to the Muslim faith.
Five Pillars of IslamThe Five Pillars of Islam (Arabic arkan ud-Din, "pillars of the faith") are the five religious duties expected of every Muslim. The five pillars are mentioned individually throughout the Qur'an and Muhammad listed them together in the Hadith when he was asked to define Islam. In this task you will research the five pillars of Islam and design a power point explaining the five pillar in a minimal of 5 slides. |
